Shah Rukh Khan may just have found a reason to check out arch- rival Salman Khan’s new film, Ek Tha Tiger, when it hits theatres on August 15 this year.
The first theatrical trailer of SRK’s next biggie, directed by Yash Chopra and tentatively titled Yeh Kahaan Aa Gayen Hum ( YKAGH) , looks all set to be launched with his bête noire Salman’s upcoming action spectacular.
The reason is obvious. Both the films have been produced by Yash Raj Films ( YRF), and the banner has a tradition of unveiling the first trailer of any upcoming film with their latest release.
Since YKAGH , which stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma along with Shah Rukh, is scheduled to be Yash Raj’s immediate next release after Ek Tha Tiger , the production house reportedly plans to launch its first trailer with the Salman film.
“Shah Rukh and Salman are known to steer clear of each other. However, YRF knows that unveiling the trailer of YKAGH with Ek Tha Tiger would be beneficial to everyone. Commercially speaking, the launch of his film’s promo with Ek Tha Tiger is the best showcase Shah Rukh can hope for. The catch is that he will have to first agree to launch his film’s trailer with a Salman film,” an industry insider said.
The tales of SRK and Salman’s ego clash are well- known, the trigger being their spat at Katrina’s birthday party in 2008.
Since then, the two superstars have maintained professional as well as personal distance.
Ek Tha Tiger, directed by New York maker Kabir Khan and starring Katrina along with Salman, is being billed as this year’s biggest release by most in the trade.
The August 15 release date means Salman will schedule his film around Eid – which falls around August 20 this year – since the festival has proved lucky for the star over the years.
In 2009, Salman released the superhit Wanted on Eid while a year later, Dabangg cashed in on the actor’s festive goodluck charm to become the biggest blockbuster of 2010. Last year, Bodyguard opened on Eid and went on to create the highest firstweek collection record, also becoming the biggest hit of the year.
