An Ishant Sharma bowled a very good spell of three overs and took five wickets against Kochi Tuskers Kerala, the gangling paceman credited senior bowler Zaheer Khan for improvement in his bowling.
Ishant bowled three overs spell and took five wickets by giving only 12 runs and help the Deccan Chargers with an emphatic 55 win as they bundled out Kochi for just 74 runs.
The 22-year-old stated after earning the man-of-the-match award for his great spell, “I had learnt lot from spearhead Zaheer Khan and I need to say thanks to him because he told me to keep working hard on my fitness. Working with such a person is really incredible for me”.
Questioned what inspired you to come out with that kind of performance, he states, “Its not about inspiration, when we were sitting in the dressing room we though 130 is the good total. When RP’s first ball hit the gloves of Sunny Sohal, we thought we wont mind bowling first on this track”.
Winning skipper Kumara Sangakarra said that he was satisfied with the total on the board and confident of defending that. Once, we started batting, we though 130-140 is the good score on this track and it is a competitive score. Both Ishant and Dale Steyn were magnificent in the first six overs.
Sangakkara also credited their coach Darren Lehman for instilling confidence in the side.
“He has a lot of common sense when it comes to cricket, nothing flash, just go out there and hit your lengths. We need to keep playing good cricket,” he said.
Kochi skipper Mahela Jayawardene said that they knew they have to come with fire while batting but praised Steyn and Sharma for their tremendous spells.
“However, it was difficult to come back when you are six for five”, he added.
